What would you expect from a school play version of ‘I Am Yusuf’? … whatever happens, it’s a school play, you clap, you cheer, you find the mistakes cute, and ‘awwwww’ in encouragement when they miss a line or freeze on stage. Well, nope! None of this happened. Those kids put on a play, one of the most difficult plays I’ve been part of, in an almost professional way.
The Alex Broun Play Festival opened last night at The Junction, with 7 plays in the Green group and 8 plays in the Magenta Group. The ABPF brings the Dubai theatre community together, once more, to create a vibe and energy that we are used to during the Short+Sweet season.
